I gotta say this whole trend of hire some crazy old D-list actor for an obscure marketing campaign seems to be catching on…look at Pricleine with Shatner….

Either way it is funny and catches your attention even it the reason is unknown.

Oh, Holy Cow! I’m actually thinking about taking on the Busey style for presentations and the like. I’ve got some training classes to put on next week. I think I’m going to have my team of writers come up with some Stella-isms (or would that be Commute-isms) for me.

LOVE IT.

Gary Busey is fast becoming one of my favorite people in the world. My only wish is I could set him up with my Aunt. My Aunt loves him and I am starting to see why. She has his voice on her GPS that she got from Navtones.com, she owns the series of “I’m with Gary Busey” and often looks for him on youtube. She did show me a funny one the other day. When on youtube put in “A day in the life of Gary Busey”, funny stuff.

Anyway, what I’m saying is, thanks for putting the clips up and I’m a fan!

Wow, I must have been living under a rock for the past few weeks, because I hadn’t even seen these before someone mentioned them to me in a forum, and even then I assumed they were joking, or that the videos were at most a one-off goof rather than a full-blown campaign.

To add insult to injury, I actually use gotvmail for my home business…

I like the comparison to Jackson Pollack because it also suggests the non sequitur aspect of these ads. If there is a “modern” marketing trick, it is to avoid talking about the product itself as much as possible, even if the product is something as benign and utterly useful as gotvmail. People are less aware that they’re being marketed to. It’s a distraction — like watching a monkey dance while a pickpocket robs you. Not that there’s anything wrong with that…

I think I am being 100% honest in saying that adding Gary Busey to ANY situation makes it both awesome and totally insane.
