All across America, unproductive employees stood around the office and talked about Obama. Never to miss an opportunity to be liked by our coworkers, Human Resources professionals jumped right in and stopped working.
America, it’s true that Barack Obama is a uniter and not a divider!
Admit it. Nothing was accomplished in your office, today, because you ate leftover Halloween candy and talked about the election. Then you went out to lunch, came back to the office, and talked about local races.
There’s always tomorrow, dudes. Don’t sweat it.

I actually did work today, but I was working at home and my dog didn’t have much to say about Obama’s winning other than when I asked her how she thinks the next four years will turn out and she said “rough!” Then I met some co-workers for lunch and we talked about Obama’s winning and the fact that two of them didn’t even bother to vote. That lasted about five minutes, they then proceeded to talk about upcoming movies and random stuff for the rest of the time.
I worked my ass off talking about Barack and how close the Swnate would be to 60 Democrats.
Nope, ’cause Obama hasn’t magicked me a job yet!
I was expecting a lot more office chatter. I work for a fairly conservative company so those of us with a liberal “bias” tend to keep pretty closed lipped about politics in the office.
Nope. But I would have loved to. *ahem cough cough ahem*
everyone came in late and bantered all day. we watched CNN and oprah and celebrated openly. one of the benefits of being a member of the liberal media!
Most of the morning was spent with me giving an overview to co-workers on the the electoral college. Then we ate stale PEEPS in the shapes of ghosts and pumpkins and proceeded to read HR Blogs all day!
I felt incredibly inspired today. Walking on air. Proud of where I’m from and what it is just now starting to mean again. I know how corny that all sounds – I’m actually a pretty cynical guy. It carried right into my work today, I think. It surprised me to have such profound feelings about the election, but after the last 8 years listening to a President (elect, I know) last night deliver a message about us and not him – and based on opportunity, hard work ahead, and hope – and not FEAR. I’m inspired.
@maczter That seems about right. Political chit chat isn’t as compelling as chatter about food.
@michael You worked pretty hard.
@almost He’s working on my miracles, first.
@Corey Your approach makes sense. Loose lips sink ships (& careers).
@Kelly Amen.
@cols ur such an elitist.
@HR Underling God I hate the uniformed electorate — unless they vote for my candidate.
@George Aw, snap, you just inspired me!
I live in GA. Atlanta. A mostly red state. Politics does not get spoken in the office nor do I speak to many people. Only when I need to. I’m not in sync with most of them. But because I voted Obama and was quite happy I did as little work as possible. It was my personal holiday. It also helped that the mail server was down and I was not getting any client emails.
@MikeC I think Obama made your mail server go down to thank you for your vote!
