Monday Morning HR Humor: Hurt Feelings Report

by Laurie on May 11, 2009

Kerry over at Cluewagon linked to this hurt feelings report. It’s so awesome that I had to reprint it.

Feel free to send it to your clients, coworkers, and kids. I would also recommend that you include this report in your Workplace Harassment and Sensitivity Training courses.

That is hilarious. I have several Army friends who are going to love it.

LMAO! This has to be the best form ever.

Looks very much like the union grievance form from a previous employer. Or at least how I read it in my mind…

Bat Girl May 11, 2009 at 11:45 am

This sounds like the form that was passed around in the army (as a bad joke) in response to a returned solider who attempted suicide due to untreated PTSD…in that context not so funny.

In a corporate context…pretty f’ing hilarious.

I loved this, too. Kerry at http://www.twitter.com/cluewagon has a great blog. If you’re not following her, you should.

Ooh boy! Working for a Bussines Unit of a company where all the problem people are dumped (i.e. the ones who are always ill, always get in arguments, the ones who don’t want a 20,000 dollar education offered by their employer (!) etc. etc.) I would love to hand out these 8) But I don’t think it’s wise for a contractor to do these things in the current economic situation :(

This is GREAT!!!!! Love it! I will be linking to this shortly….

Bat Girl–really? That is unfortunate.

I always get a little itchy about jokes related to “crybabies” and “hurt feelings” when I don’t know who is perpetrating the joke. It could easily be legitimate and funny (“I came up with this form when Bob got mad at the admin for buying Maxwell House instead of Folger’s and started complaining about it to anyone who would listen”), but it could also easily be meant to minimize and silence more serious issues (maybe harassment, racist jokes being sent around the office, depression, etc.) that the joke-teller views as not a big deal.

“Woman/man-type hormones” was quite amusing (I enjoy how almost everyone would pretty much have to check this box)–and I was also pleased to see that that wasn’t just the typical tired joke accusing people (especially men, oh the hilarity) of having PMS or acting like girls or being “hormonal” (which always means silly girl hormones) or whatever.

OK, I’m probably overthinking this one. :P

@spacedcowgirl You know, you are right that there is a kernel of truth in every joke. Obviously, anyone who gives out this form at work — or gives off a vibe that a serious concern at work shouldn’t be aired — should be punched in the nose.

Kerry May 11, 2009 at 8:46 pm

Oh, so THIS is why I am having an awesome traffic day. I should have known. Muchos gracias!

(Although I am feeling bad if the source was indeed a soldier who really needed help…that’s a situation where I have some family experience, and there is nothing funny about it. Also, I totally agree that anyone who actually hands this form to someone is a weenie.)

Kerry May 12, 2009 at 10:48 am

Okay, well that’s weird. I wrote the comment at 8:46pm on the 11th, but I did NOT write the comment at 6:23am on the 12th. It has my name and my previous comment on it, but there’s an additional line I didn’t add, and the link is to a spam site.

That’s a new form of comment spam I haven’t seen, I guess.

spacedcowgirl May 12, 2009 at 3:56 pm

You know, I hadn’t thought about that. You guys are right that there is a big difference between someone actually handing someone the form at work to try and get them to shut up, and being amused by the form when it is posted on a blog. I am totally on board with the latter. :)

This very form landed on my desk sometime last week – a gift from my Managing Principal. I love it – it’s hanging on my bulletin board and ready for use!

Laurie May 12, 2009 at 9:15 pm

@Megan :)

@Spacedcowgirl Glad to hear you’re happy with where this landed.

@Kerry I put it back in spam. Weird is right.
