November Spawned a Monster

PhotobucketWelcome to November. Holy crap, this month will be so crazy.

Don’t even get me started about the holidays, none of which I celebrate but all of which require my presence somewhere.

What are you doing in November?

I celebrate all holidays whether or not my presence is required because I just like to celebrate.

@Debbie See you soon!

@Elle I mean, really, can someone give me a break?

@Jason Yeah! Did you RSVP? Did you decide if you’re telling a FAIL story?

@bztat You are awesome. That’s why I adore you. I want to be festive & shit. I’m just a Debbie Downer. I use Scrub-dub & the team as my mechanism to express my feelings about the holidays. I dress him up, make him cute, and live vicariously through my cats. I’m glad you understand this and don’t judge me.

Well, I’m coming to your party on the 4th, supporting the man-friend through his law school finals and self-medicating with champagne at Thanksgiving.

Wait, there are two events in DC on November 19th? 50/50 chance I might see you there.

@Laurie You seem quite festive, throwing all these HR parties and shit. Wish I could come fail spectacularly with you and all your cool punks in Chicago.

Brew is happy that I only dress him up via Photoshop. I GUARANTEE that you will like my studio Christmas decorations. Will send photos…

I appreciate the Morrissey reference…now if only everyday was like Sunday.

Whoa… I made the November PRHR list TWICE?! That’s killer. I may need to jump to NYC for the hat trick.

Tracy, please get yer arse to the SmartBrief thing in DC. You and I need to meet.

Dysfunction, I just checked out your blog. That’s quite a moms you got there—you’re going to want to keep that one.

Very busy month for me too:

- Started yesterday with me moderating a panel at an event for the 50+ crowd on starting a second career/re-entering the workplace.

- Nov. 4 – Presentation at the McGladrey Womens Leadership Event at Union Station in DC on Social Networking.

- Nov. 10-12 – Trip to Minneapolis for company meetings. Will be with many HR Directors I rarely get to see. Hope to connect with @MNHeadhunter too.

- Nov 15-16 – Social Recruiting Summit & Tweetup in NYC (with you and a cast of many). Can’t wait!

- Nov. 23rd – Organizing meeting for DC recruiting event with @jessica_lee, @SourcerKelly & others. Stay tuned for more info.

Didn’t know about the event on the 19th in DC. May have to fit that in too.

I get to go to Prague and speak at the SAP HR 2009 conference in November. I’ve never been to Prague, so looking forward to that. And speaking at conferences is a blast, anyway, even when traveling to not-so-distant places.

As you’ve touched on already, November is when companies gear-up for year-end, so my customers are keeping me busy with year-end work. Use it or lose it, and getting ready for next year always brings in work.

My/our birthday is in November. I’m an identical twin, and my sister and I make an effort to spend our birthday together if at all possible. She’s coming from out of state for the event, and we might travel to visit family around then as well.

Unless I get an offer before then. Not looking good.

Sherry C – I just went to a birthday celebration last Friday, the 6th for a set of fraternal twins I have as friends. They wanted to go to a drag show, which we did, among other things. I haven’t been to a drag show in years and unfortunately was a bit disappointed because the participants did not seem to glam it up as much as I remembered. That’s how my November started. Anyway, Happy Birthday Sherry and your twin and have a wonderful time celebrating.
