Sense of Entitlement

by Laurie on July 9, 2007

I attended my first outplacement session, this afternoon, and I was struck by how lucky I am to be in America. My former company is paying another company to help me find a job somewhere — anywhere else — besides my former employer itself.

Really, it’s amazing.

I was asked about my expectations for the process. I don’t have any expectations except that I don’t want to end up in a job that I hate. I would rather shovel shit for $8.00/hr than work for a company without values.

Oh wait, I’m so full of crap. I wish that I meant that. It’s so unfortunate that I like nice things, including nice accessories.

i like nice stuff too.
“a company without values.” i worked at one that really did have values. earnest values. these people lived for it. but the corporate structure was nevertheless stultifying. it rewarded mediocrity and justice was scarce. very much like the human condition, huh.

I went to the dealership to schedule an oil change, and I looked at the Audi A6.

Damn, I need another job right away. Six figures + 20% bonus. No values needed. Stat.

The Stewardess bag will change your life. I don’t care if you have to go into debt.

I have the retro briefcase. The Stewardess bag just makes sense. Don’t you think?
